Sound help . . .
« on: December 03, 2006 »
Hello again guys - I need some help (again) . . .

Is there any way that you can check (in a mod for example ) if a channel is playing? There was a feature in AMOS that allowed you to check to see whether a channel (4 channel on the amiga) had something played in it - this create a sort of graphic equaliser type thing for the four channels! i.e. if a sound played in channel 1 then put a 1 on the screen, if channel 2 then put 2 on the screen etc. etc.

Don't know if it is possible but I guess if it is somebody here will know?  ???  :P

Regards and Appreciation

I've been looking for something similar, I did manage to get something of sorts from the Bass dll, but that just returned values into an array to give you the various levels of the sound frequency, got the same result as the VU Meter effect from winamp..... Sorry this isn't and answer to your question, but I am also interested in this....

You can use the Bass dll to check the status of the sound channels.
Look for Camouflage music disk in the showcase and take a look at the source, Rbraz kindly released it.

@rbraz..... Excellent example of how to use fmod to read the channel data.... Just got my version up and running.....

@drewpee..... If you haven't looked at the camouflage disk yet rbraz's example is very clear and easy to follow. I recommend you have a look at that to.....
